Sometimes answering those “what do you think” surveys are worth the energy.
In a 2013 Fairlington Citizens Association community survey, residents expressed a strong interest in having a walkable farmers market in the community. And in true Fairlington fashion, a group came together to build a market where we could shop for locally grown food and connect with our neighbors.
As a local, producer-only market, everyone who sells at our market grows, raises, bakes, cooks or prepares the food themselves. And it is all done within 125 miles of Fairlington. Not only do you have access to fresh, high-quality food through our market, but you can also get to know people who grow and make your food. Buying locally produced foods means your money goes to growing the food versus transportation and packaging, helps keep pesticides out of the Chesapeake Bay watershed, and supports the local, small business economy.
The Fairlington Farmers Market is volunteer led organization and is part of the non-profit Field to Table family that also includes the Westover Farmers Market, Cherrydale Farmers Market, and Lubber Run Farmers Market.
